As we reflect on the winter season, let me share a personal story from January 2008.
Fresh from my time at BYU Hawaii, I returned to Utah to a snowstorm; yes I shed a few tears missing the sunshine of Oahu. It was a tough transition, but 3 weeks later, I found myself working for Real Salt Lake (RSL), a new expansion team in MLS.
What was supposed to be a short stop on my way to law school turned into 5 full MLS seasons at RSL. From managing the move to a new stadium to securing military flyovers for events, I navigated several milestones. Our MLS Cup win, hosting headlining concerts, and most importantly, meeting incredibly talented and inspiring people made it all worth it.
RSL still feels like family to me. It's amazing how taking a leap of faith can lead to opportunities you never imagined.
Have you ever taken that leap? Did it turn out better than you could have ever imagined? Share your stories in the comments below.
