REFRACTION
THE UTAH STORY
REFRACTION was born in Utah—created by VanderRose Studios and brought to life at the Bonneville Salt Flats through a collaborative production that included some of Utah’s most accomplished photographers alongside creative professionals from beyond the state.
Each encountered the same world on the same day—and each saw something different.
THEN THE LANDSCAPE OFFERED ITS OWN PERSPECTIVE.

Wind, rain, approaching storms, and changing light altered carefully conceived plans. The Bonneville Salt Flats became more than the setting for REFRACTION; the environment became an active participant in what the work ultimately became.
Those photographs now enter another layer of interpretation through an international, multidisciplinary curatorial panel before returning to Utah for the REFRACTION Artist in Residence exhibition at Asher Adams Hotel. The exhibit will be on display in the Grand Lobby January - March, 2027.

At the heart of REFRACTION is the belief that art is experienced differently by everyone.
​
To help shape the inaugural exhibition, VanderRose Studios has assembled an international, multidisciplinary curatorial panel representing photography, film, fashion, music, culinary artistry, creative direction, and global storytelling.
​
Rather than evaluating photographs solely through technical criteria, these accomplished individuals have been invited to respond through their own creative sensibilities, experiences, and emotional connections.
